What my students learned at Horse Camp in Santa Cruz

IHA Live! August 12, 2021

A Natural Horsemanship Club in California called Bay Area Savvy Players has hosted an annual summer Instructional Camp for most of its 22 years. BASP regularly enrolls Cezanne DeCristoforo as its resident instructor. Cezanne provides BASP members a menu of thoughtful horse clinics that receive rave reviews from campers at each Instructional Camp.

Our Host of IHA Live! Andrew attended last month's camp and attended several clinics.  Cezanne and Andrew will talk about some key takeaways from Instructional Camp and Cezanne's role in the Revolution in Natural Horsemanship. In addition, they will answer questions from our live audience across five continental time zones.

ABOUT OUR IHA LIVE! GUEST - Cezanne Decristoforo

From her students on the West Coast to the Houston Mounted Police Department to the instructors she has taught from all over the world at the International Study Center (ISC) for Natural Horsemanship in Pagosa Springs, CO, natural horsemanship students have come to love Cezanne DeCristoforo!

Two decades ago, Cezanne started and restarting difficult horses in California. Now she is a popular clinician traveling anywhere in the nation and offers lessons to west coast students and students anywhere via video.

Cezanne and her identical twin Evan began riding as children over 30 years ago, starting with Pony Club and later Eventing. When they started studying with the late Deb Cooper, a Parelli Professional near Santa Cruz, CA, she introduced the twins to Natural Horsemanship in 1993. Three years later, Cezanne attended the first clinic with Pat Parelli in Santa Barbara, CA.

By the summer of 1998, Cezanne was a working student at the ISC and rode in Pat's first level 3 course with many of Parelli's senior Instructors. She became a Parelli Professional in 2000, spent most of 2002 and 2003 at La Cense Montana studying with the late Ronnie Willis, and learned about cutting with Leon Harrel. In 2005, Cezanne interned as a colt starter at Winstar Farms (famous for triple-crown Horse Racing) in Kentucky. She has also ridden with Ray Hunt.

By 2012, Cezanne was back at the ISC in Colorado, leading Instructor training. In 2013, Cezanne became a 4-star senior Parelli Professional. Cezanne now lives on a ranch near Oregon City, OR, with her husband Mike and their two sons Chase & Quentin, their horses, cats, and chickens.
